Some of you may have observed that your iPhone now has “No Sim” in the top left corner and are unable to figure out why, even though your sim card is correctly inserted into the tray within your device.

iPhone sim tray location and removal
When you make calls, use the internet, or receive and send text messages, your network provider provides you with a sim card that delivers all of your information. If your iPhone displays the No Sim message, follow the steps below to remove and replace the sim tray. The message may appear because your sim card was not properly inserted within the tray.
The SIM card tray is located opposite the mute and volume controls on the right-hand side of your iPhone. You’ll need an Apple sim card removal tool to remove the tray, which may be found within the iPhone’s original box.
To remove your iPhone’s sim-tray, follow these steps:
- To remove the Apple SIM card, gently insert it into the pinhole and apply light pressure until it pops out

- Turn on/off Airplane mode — A simple reset of your network connections can easily cure the problem. Simply swipe up the control center on your iPhone and press the airplane sign to turn on, and again to turn off.
- Use a different sim card to test your device — If you have a spare sim card laying around, you can see if it’s simply your sim card that’s faulty. To remove and insert the sim card inside the tray, follow the procedures above. If this doesn’t work, you might need to contact your network carrier to have a new sim card mailed to you.
- Clean your sim card slot – If progressive dirt and moisture have found their way into your sim tray/card slot, it’s critical that this area is free of dust, as this will prevent your sim from being identified. Put some isopropyl (alcohol) on a softly bristles toothbrush and gently rub it into the slot to clean the sim tray. To clear any debris or dust that has accumulated in the slot, blow a can of pressurized air directly into it if you have one on hand.
To begin, navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Content and Settings in the Settings app.
Tap Erase > input your Apple ID and Passcode in a pop-up window that will display.
After that, your iPhone will begin to restore to factory settings and erase all of your data. After that, you can either set it up on a new computer or restore it from your most recent backup.
Using the steps outlined above, remove your SIM card from the slot, reinstall the tray, and wait for the device to recognize the network. This should just take a few seconds, and you’ll know if it worked when your network provider appears in the top-left corner of your screen.
